Website Designer

Web Designers are responsible for designing and building the interface, navigation and aesthetic of websites for businesses and clients. Likely working in the IT team of an organisation or for a digital design agency that services clients, Web Designers should possess a range of skills and qualities. A Web Designer job description should ask for candidates that are experts in design best practice, understand user and client needs, and be excellent communicators.

Responsibilities:

    • Creating website layout/template.
    • Discussing clients’ requirements and proposed solutions with a senior developer (for developers at mid-skill level and below)
    • Demonstrating and receiving feedback about draft sites
    • Keeping up to date with recent technological and software developments
    • Developing skills and expertise in appropriate software/programming

languages such as HTML and Javascript

  • Creating products that are user-friendly, effective and appealing
  • Digital retouching and image editing

 

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Managing and uploading website content
  • Designing engaging and responsive landing pages
  • Integrating client CMS programs and data feeds into websites
  • Optimising sites for maximum speed and scalability
  • Employing industry and design best practice through website build process
  • Conducting website testing
  • Liaising with back-end developers to ensure web and app logic is properly integrated
  • Ensuring website function and stability across devices i.e. desktop, mobile, tablet

Required Skills:

  • Proven understanding of graphic design fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a project from concept to launch.
  • Strong command of color theory, image composition, and typography.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Ability to deliver production-ready digital assets in a wide variety of formats.
  • Awareness of UI/UX principles.
  • Familiarity with digital photo editing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Comfort working in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • One to three years of professional design experience.
  • Portfolio of strong creative work
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, Bootstrap and Javascript.
  • Social media and email marketing experience a plus.

Qualification:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Must have a qualified bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have pursued any certificate courses in Web Design.
  • Experience: 2-5 years (Preferred)
